The first seeds of Lotus azoricus for the recovery of populations under the LIFE VIDALIA have already germinated in the Azores Seed Bank. The next step is to promote the development of these plants in the nursery before they can be used to reinforce the natural populations of the project’s intervention areas.
Lotus azoricus is one of the two target species of the project and one of the rarest endemic species of the Azores, listed in Annex B-II of the Habitats Directive and considered a priority for conservation.
